If you’re planning on taking one of our VW Campers up towards Nofolk with children in tow, we thoroughly recommend a day out at Bewilderwood, The Curious Treehouse Adventure, near the pretty riverside town of Hoveton.
As you explore the woodland paths and wooden bridges, you’ll be able to spot the magical dwellings of the Twiggles and the Boggles and you can go on a story-telling boat ride past Mildred the Crocklebog to find out more about their adventures. There are loads of places to take a break from the adventures and watch a performance (involving the visitors in dressing up) or listen to a story about the woodland characters.
Along with setting the imagination alight with stories and songs, there’s plenty of exciting climbing, crawling, balancing and jumping to be done as you explore the fabulous adventure climbing frames, slides, zip wires and role play and shelter building areas. The Sky Maze, which only appeared for the first time in 2014, could easily keep you entertained for more than an hour as you climb and crawl around the huge wooden structure deciding which route to take next to find your way out again!
With many exciting events happening throughout the year, it’s always a good idea to check the Bewilderwood website to see what’s on. We visited in October half term and took part in The Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade, making our own lanterns in the activity tent and then joining in the fun of the parade as we made our way past the glowing pumpkins and roaring campfires in a truly magical event.
Bewilderwood is located less than an hour from Great Yarmouth, but being located in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, there are plenty of lovely campsites to be found about 20 minutes drive away. If you’re heading up that way from Happy Campers base in Essex, it’s certainly worth a visit for a fab day out.
